I’m not much of a baker, but I have to share this cookie recipe with you. Why? Because it is super simple and delectably delicious!
This recipe makes about 45-50 cookies – you can halve these measurements if your house isn’t populated by ravenous monsters like ours is.
Bestest Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of self raising flour
3/4 cup of brown sugar
3/4 cup of white sugar
250g cooking margarine
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
250g bag of chocolate chips (Get the most delicious ones you can find. Here in Australia I buy Cadbury’s white or milk chocolate chips. Sometimes I use both. Yah-UM!)
How to make them:
Put the first three dry ingredients into a bowl and mix. Melt the margarine in the microwave until it is soft but not runny. I blast mine for about 45 seconds but this will vary depending on your microwave and how nuclear-reactive it is. Then break your eggs into a cup and whisk them with a fork until they’re…um…whisked. Add these to the bowl, and then add the vanilla essence. Mix well. Last of all, add the chocolate chips, with the goal in mind that more of them must go into the bowl than into your mouth.
Grease a baking tray with cooking margarine or line it with baking paper. Roll up small balls of the mixture, pop them on the tray then bake them at 180°C* for 10-15 minutes. I bake mine for exactly 11 minutes because we like our cookies a bit soft. The longer you bake them, the crunchier they will be.
Allow your cookies to cool on the tray for a few minutes, before turning them onto a cooling rack.
The last step is the easiest. Eat your cookies and fill the world with the delightful sounds of your contented munching!
*Standard oven temperature. I use a fan-forced oven and lower the temperature to 165°C.

How did you know that I was having a craving for chocolate chip cookies?…lol Those look yummy
Yummy looking recipe. I make 3 batches of biscuits every 10 days or so. One choc chip, one chocolate with white choc chips and Anzacs. I add a special ingredient to the choc chips – coffee and hickory essence! It gives a nice flavour and golden colour. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
I have been searching for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe since, like, for-e-verrrrrrrr. I will definitely give these a try the next time my daughter requests CCCies. Thanks for sharing!
We love chocolate chip cookies around here. I always love a new recipe. Can’t wait to try it! Thanks.
My boyfriend will be very pleased if I try this recipe
By the way, I love the new face of your blog.
Cheers from Spain
Your new blog look is so fun! Also, this is the exact same recipe as my favorite choc chip cookie. Exactly, except I don’t measure in grams or cook in Celcius. And I don’t know how many cookies it would make… I usually eat at least a dozen before they are baked. Ha!
I never baked cookies in my life, but if you say this is a great recipe, I just might give it a try. I have a bit of a problem with this cups of yours. How big is your cup? Is that 1 dcl cup or 2 dcl cup?
these look so yum! i love chocolate chip cookies and it’s nice to try new recipes for a change here and there so i think i’ll try it. i’m pinning it now!
i’ll have to make the whole batch since we definitely qualify for ravenous monsters!!
This is the same recipe my family has used for a few generations. The only difference is I use shortening or butter. I also don’t use self-rising flour so I use some baking soda. So yum! We add different things depending on what we feel like -almost always nuts, sometimes rice crispies, sometimes coconut, sometimes chopped up maraschino cherries – if you like maraschino cherries you should try it because it’s really good. Drain them and then chop them and add them when you add the chocolate.
oh and I meant to say – we always double the batch!
That looks pretty much the same as the recipe I’ve used for over 40 years, except, like Amy above me, I use butter, and I don’t use self-rising flour, and I bake in Fahrenheit! I usually add more chips than called for, and I also add pecans or walnuts, chopped. If I’m really in a hurry, I’ll pack all the dough in a jelly-roll pan, bake at 350F for 18 minutes, and cut into bars. I made them a few days ago, and they lasted less than 24 hours!
My families taste buds would like to thank you
