When Ctrl+Alt+Del Just Won’t Do The Trick Anymore

in Life, etcetera

My computer has just had major surgery. After months of slow decline, it was decided that a full reinstall of Windows was needed. So now I’m rocking Windows 7. Meh. I’d rather a Mac, but my hubby has always been a Windows man, and he’s the I.T. guy, so what can I do?

I’ve taken the Blogging Without Obligation pledge, but I still feel a need to tell you why I’m so quiet at the moment. After my computer was released from the recovery ward, I have been spending a considerable amount of time aiding its rehabilitation. This means reinstalling programs, bookmarking everything again, putting in LOTS of passwords {honestly I don’t know how one is supposed to remember so many passwords} and so on.

First 3 things to install:
Firefox
iTunes
Photoshop

These 3 programs are the backbone of my computing requirements. Do you have a program or programs you can’t live without?

You don’t need a different password for each application – why can’t you use the same password and maybe something different for more serious stuff like banking, etc. It makes life a lot easier to remember.

Hi Yvonne,
I generally do this, but sometimes I find it difficult to remember which password went with what. I also have a few different usernames and working out the combination of the two sometimes gives me a headache! :)
Actually now whenever I sign up for something new I send myself an email with the username and password and keep them all in a folder in my Outlook. This has helped a lot.
Cheers,
Kelly.

Firefox. Photoshop. Delicious. Which is brilliant actually. A social bookmarking site so you can access all your bookmarks where ever you are, and whatever happens to your computer. OK, so it isn’t a “program” exactly, but I use it as much as I do my email almost. OK, that was an exaggeration. But I do use it like a gillion more often than I use my toaster. Which is saying something.

Google chrome (with igoogle homepage – I can have everything and more on one page), Publisher and Picassa. These I cannot live without! Now that I have a laptop I really do think I spend too much time “nourishing my creativity”..oops

Let’s give it up for Illustrator and Photoshop! I also can’t do without Grooveshark and, of course, my own blog, CuteStuffInside.
